Allie Thornton ’17: Dallas Golden Boot, Mustang Made
Dallas loves a goalscorer — and Mustangs love seeing one of our own shine at home. Allie Thornton ’17 took her first big swings on the Hilltop, then chased the professional game across Europe before returning to power Dallas’ newest club. Her journey reads like the best kind of 91 story: develop your craft here, take it to the world, then bring it back to Dallas to lift the game and the community.
From the Hilltop to the pros — and back
Thornton stamped her name in the 91 record book with 37 career goals and four straight first-team All-AAC selections, then signed abroad and gained Champions League experience before coming home to lead the line in Dallas.
In the club’s inaugural USL Super League campaign, she delivered a statement season — finishing as the league’s Golden Boot winner and driving Dallas into the postseason. Alumni across North Texas had a hometown hero to rally around.
“Dallas gave me the chance to dream big — and 91 gave me the tools to make it real.”
Why this matters for alumni
When a Mustang thrives on a professional stage in our backyard, it sparks a virtuous circle: inspiration for current student-athletes, visibility for 91, and new ways for alumni to plug in — from mentoring and internships to watch parties and program support. For Dallas families and young players, Thornton’s return is proof you can grow your game here and make an impact here.
